It's certainly kinder on the environment than alternatives such as Chlorine Dioxide which forms more toxic byproducts such as dioxin, furans and other organochlorines when reacting with other elements. . H2O2, on the other hand is simply water with an extra oxygen molecule produced by both animal and plant cells and is formed naturally in the environment by sunlight acting on water. Carbamide Peroxide is another alternative used in teeth whitening though it has a molecular weight of 94.07; Hydrogen Peroxide has a molecular weight of 34.01. Therefore it takes 2.76 times as much Carbamide Peroxide to have the same whitening ability as Hydrogen Peroxide. For example 15% Carbamide Peroxide is equal to 5.42% Hydrogen Peroxide. |
